Does this sound familiar?

The old legacy gas boiler has a failure and requires expensive repairs, eventually breaking down.  Heating system crashes.  Reactive measures mean electric panel heaters get fitted.  Now you have radiators and panel heaters blocking corridors and taking up valuable residents room space.  The heating runs at full capacity but the air is stale so windows get opened, creating drafts and a cross circulation of dust and germs between rooms.  Electricity bills go through the roof!

Yes, this scenario was given to us by one of the UK’s top chain of care homes and they were in a vicious loop, requiring one home to close completely

DE-CENTRALISE AND DE-RISK

Plastering in Energy Carbon FLEECE panels into the ceilings of the residents rooms creates multiple, detached heating zones, run with a combination of presence and CO2 sensors along with heating schedules, all controlled centrally over a network giving detailed usage reports.

The heating is hidden away, freeing up room space for the resident and avoiding tampering, blocking off or fall hazard.  The  gentle warmth provides controllable comfort to the room without circulating warm, dusty, dry air so that, even at 27°c, the air doesn’t feel stale.

In the very unlikely event of a panel failure, that single panel is the only one affected with the rest of the home operating as normal.

DE-CENTRALISE AND DE-RISK

Comfortable, breathable air promotes family visits and conversations

The 36v transformer can control up to 10 rooms and can fit into a cupboard or loftspace

RELEASE SPACE

The Energy Carbon infrared heating system requires no plant room, freeing up valuable space from the old gas boiler room for additional storage.  Each room has a bespoke, 36v transformer controlling the heating safely and quietly out of site.

Corridors, meeting rooms, communal areas can all lose those radiators to free up wall space and, as the heating is from above, stale smells are not warmed up through floor coverings, in the case of under floor heating.

REDUCE COSTS

This clever heating system consists of just 4 parts, none of which are moving, and has a design life of over 50 years.  There is no need for annual maintenance or replacement, drastically reducing overhead costs.

As the heating can be zoned, scheduled and sensor driven, energy use can be kept to a minimum, particularly in areas not in frequent use.  It goes without saying that integration with a solar pv array are an ideal fit with our systems

A HEALTHIER FACILITY

A HEALTHIER FACILITY

Infrared warms people and spaces rather than the air.  It is fast acting and, when in full operation, will not circulate dust, mites, germs and viruses and as each room is effectively climate controlled, cases of isolation to spread the risk of infection for issues such as Flu or Covid, can be more comfortable for the patient.

The reduced spread of ‘nasties’, is better for residents with chest issues such as asthma or COPD and, as the home feels more pleasant, it is more likely that friends and family will feel happier to visit.

Healthy staff too!

CASE STUDIES

CALM FUTURES – new build care home for adolescents in Essex

Fitted with Energy Carbon FLEECE mats into the ceilings and controlled using HeatMiser thermostats linked to a wifi network.

These units also took advantage of our AIRUNIT GEMINI decentralised MVHR units to ensure fresh clean air is available at all times without wasting the heat.

CARE HOME – SCOTLAND

This 120 bedroom home for dementia sufferers, operate a large gas boiler across all areas.  The heating has failed on multiple occasions requiring drastic repairs and temporary replacement heaters.

Energy use was running in excess of 1300mw’s pa and costing in excess of £350,000pa

Cost for installation of the replacement Energy Carbon system showed a payback in 3 to 5 years with the added benefit of no maintenance and more reactive heating.
